Saks Fifth Avenue

611 5th Avenue @ 50th Street

For over a century the fine clothing store Saks has maintained a vision of elite fashion that has been respected throughout the world. Andrew Saks founded the store in 1902 at a location on 34th Street near Broadway. His son, Horace Saks, oversaw the opening of the Fifth Avenue store in 1924. The store carries both men’s and women’s clothing, with high–fashion labels ranging from Dolce & Gabbana to Ralph Lauren, although they are still best known for their classic men’s clothing in the Savile Row style. The store has since expanded throughout the world, but the Fifth Avenue flagship store, with its elegant ambiance and fantastic Christmas–season windows, is pure New York.
