Known as “The Crown Jewel of Wall Street,” the green copper pyramid atop 40 Wall Street towers over many of its more modern neighbors with elegance and grandeur. For a very short time in 1930, the building at 40 Wall Street held the title of world’s tallest building, although it was quickly edged out by both the Chrysler and Empire State buildings. Four people were killed when a Coast Guard plane crashed into this building in 1946, but the structure was undamaged. It was bought and renovated by Donald Trump in 1996.
