Bowling Green Park
Location: Broadway and Battery Place
The neighborhood around Bowling Green is one of the oldest sections of New York, and Bowling Green is the city’s oldest public park. Before land reclamation added land to the tip of Manhattan, Bowling Green was nearly at the edge of New York Harbor. The little plot of land that makes up the park was first set up as a private park in 1733 and was officially designated for the public in 1850. Today it’s an unassuming triangle–shaped island of grass just south of Wall Street.
