Even hard core urban junkies sometimes need a break from the concrete and steel of city life. When one begins to feel the gnawing desire to “get away from it all,” to yearn for the sight of grass, trees, and sunshine, then it’s time to go to a park.
New York may be a tightly packed city, but it has a rich history of lovingly designed retreats for it’s residents, highlighted by the work of landscape designers Calvert Vaux and Frederick Law Olmsted. A park may not ease all of one’s urban anxieties, but a little green grass can be a nice break from the asphalt jungle.
