Radio City Music Hall
6th Avenue between 50th and 51st streets
The breath–taking Radio City Music Hall is the largest indoor theater in the United States, and even jaded New Yorkers are impressed when they view its interior for the first time. When it opened during the Depression in 1932, the theater’s opulence was truly stunning. The Art Deco foyer has 60–foot ceilings and chandeliers that each weighs two tons. The theater features 25,000 lights and the largest stage curtain in the world. The Rockettes, who perform in Radio City’s annual Easter and Christmas spectaculars, have been New York trademarks since 1933, celebrated for their drill–team precision and sparkling costumes.
