Lincoln Center
Broadway @ 63rd Street
New York has long been known for its performing arts; in the 1950s, the city undertook the incredibly ambitious project of bringing together many different classical disciplines into one vast complex. With funding from the Rockefellers and urban planning vision from Robert Moses, the Lincoln Center complex was built between 1959 and 1969, and is now home to the New York Philharmonic, New York City Ballet, New York City Opera, the great Metropolitan Opera Company, and the Juilliard School.
