Queens Museum of Art
World’s Fair Site near the Unisphere, Queens
The Queens Museum displays important contemporary art and hosts educational programs, but it is best known for its Panorama of New York City, a giant scale model of the city (at a scale of 1200:1) built for the 1964–1965 World’s Fair. The Panorama, updated every few years, shows nearly 1,000,000 buildings in New York City. The museum is housed in a building from the 1939 World’s Fair, which also took place in Flushing Meadows/Corona Park.
