Municipal Building
Centre Street @ Chambers Street
Architect: McKim, Meade & White
Date Constructed: 1914
A classically detailed early skyscraper, the Municipal Building is a 25–story structure built in the shape of a flattened horseshoe on an irregular site at Centre and Chambers streets. A small round tower rises above the main bulk of the building, surrounded by columns and surmounted with a 25–foot–high gold sculpture by Adolph Weiman called Civic Fame.
